What is Babesia microti IgG antibody by indirect immunofluorescence assay?
IgG against B. microti is detected by the same slide-based immunofluorescence method using an anti-IgG conjugate. Class-switched IgG becomes detectable roughly two to four weeks after infection, peaks during convalescence, and can remain measurable for a year or more after the parasite has been cleared. A rising titre across acute and convalescent sera (classically a four-fold change) is more informative than a single value, because a stable low-level IgG may represent remote, resolved exposure.
