What is Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing?
Susceptibility testing measures the in-vitro activity of antimicrobials against a recovered isolate, typically by disc diffusion or automated broth microdilution. Results are interpreted against breakpoints that predict clinical response and correlate with the pharmacodynamics of each drug and infection site. Testing panels are chosen according to the organism identified and local resistance epidemiology.
