What is Babesia duncani IgG Antibody?
Babesia duncani (formerly WA1) is a distinct Babesia species endemic to the western United States. Like B. microti, it is an intraerythrocytic parasite that elicits IgG responses detectable weeks after infection. The humoral response to B. duncani shows partial cross-reactivity with B. microti but can be distinguished by species-specific antigens.
