What is Beta-Glucuronidase?
Beta-glucuronidase is a bacterial enzyme that cleaves glucuronide conjugates in the intestinal lumen, reversing phase-II hepatic detoxification. Deconjugated metabolites, including oestrogens and xenobiotics, become available for reabsorption, which can increase systemic exposure.
