What is Chlamydophila pneumoniae IgM?
IgM antibodies appear within one to two weeks of acute Chlamydophila pneumoniae infection and typically decline over the following months. They reflect early immune response to the organism's lipopolysaccharide and major outer-membrane protein epitopes. Because IgM can persist at low levels in chronic or recurrent infection and cross-react with other Chlamydia species, interpretation requires clinical correlation and consideration of the IgG and IgA profiles.
