What is Testosterone?
Testosterone is synthesised in testicular Leydig cells and ovarian theca cells under LH control, with peripheral conversion in adipose and skin. The majority is bound to SHBG; blood spot sampling reflects both bound and free fractions but correlates more closely with bioavailable testosterone than with serum total T measured by immunoassay.
