What is Apolipoprotein B to Apolipoprotein A-1 Ratio?
The ratio sets the number of atherogenic, ApoB-bearing particles (LDL, VLDL, IDL, Lp(a) and remnants, one ApoB per particle) against the number of protective ApoA-1-bearing HDL particles. It is a derived marker calculated from the two measured apolipoproteins rather than an independently assayed analyte, and it does not require fasting because neither component is meaningfully affected by a recent meal.
