What is Candida IgA Antibody?
IgA is the predominant immunoglobulin at mucosal surfaces and in secretions, where it binds and neutralises antigens without triggering inflammation. Elevated secretory and serum IgA to Candida can reflect active mucosal infection, recurrent vulvovaginal or oropharyngeal candidiasis, or chronic gut colonisation with immune activation. IgA responses are shorter-lived than IgG and more closely track active or recent mucosal challenge.
