What is Candida IgG Antibody?
IgG antibodies to Candida albicans develop following systemic or persistent mucosal exposure and represent a long-lived adaptive immune response. Most healthy adults carry detectable IgG titres from commensal colonisation of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts. Elevated IgG may indicate chronic or recurrent infection, systemic candidiasis in immunocompromised hosts, or — more controversially in functional medicine contexts — persistent low-grade immune activation attributed to gut dysbiosis or intestinal permeability.
