What is Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2, M1)?
Aflatoxins are mycotoxins produced principally by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus, contaminating stored grains, nuts, and damp building materials. After exposure they are metabolised hepatically, with metabolites excreted in urine, where they serve as exposure markers. Aflatoxin B1 is among the most studied for its hepatotoxic and genotoxic potential.
