What is Macrocyclic Trichothecenes (e.g. Roridin, Verrucarin)?
Macrocyclic trichothecenes are produced predominantly by Stachybotrys chartarum (black mould) and related species in water-damaged buildings. They are potent inhibitors of protein synthesis and are the toxins most associated in the literature with damp-building exposure. They are excreted in urine following exposure.
