What is Luteinising Hormone?
Luteinising hormone is the second gonadotrophin, secreted in pulses that vary in frequency and amplitude across the cycle. It stimulates ovarian theca cell androgen production and triggers ovulation through a mid-cycle surge, then supports the corpus luteum. Because secretion is pulsatile, a single measurement samples one point in an oscillating signal.
