What is Red Blood Cell Antibody Identification?
Antibody identification uses an extended panel of reagent cells with defined antigen phenotypes. By observing which cells react and which do not, the blood bank determines the specificity — for example, anti-K reacts only with Kell-positive cells. Some patients form multiple antibodies, and warm autoantibodies or cold agglutinins can complicate the pattern.
