What is 4-Hydroxyestrone (dried urine, GCMS)?
4-Hydroxyestrone is generated by CYP1B1 hydroxylation at the C-4 position. It retains oestrogenic activity and, unlike 2-hydroxy metabolites, can undergo redox cycling to form semiquinones and quinones that react with DNA to produce depurinating adducts.
