What is Phenylethylamine?
Phenylethylamine is a trace amine synthesised from phenylalanine by aromatic amino-acid decarboxylase. It modulates catecholamine release and receptor sensitivity, with a very short half-life, and is metabolised by monoamine oxidase B. It has been called an endogenous amphetamine due to its structural and functional similarity.
