What is Non-HDL Cholesterol (derived)?
Non-HDL cholesterol is calculated as total cholesterol minus HDL-C and captures the cholesterol carried by all atherogenic, apolipoprotein-B-containing particles, including LDL, VLDL, and remnants. Because it does not rely on the triglyceride-dependent Friedewald calculation, it remains reliable in non-fasting samples and at higher triglyceride levels.
