What is Aluminium (Urine)?
Aluminium is ubiquitous in the environment, and low-level exposure through food, water, and antacids is common. Urinary aluminium reflects recent intake and renal excretion; blood aluminium is the preferred marker in dialysis patients at risk of aluminium-related bone disease. Absorption is low in healthy individuals but increases in those with renal impairment or taking citrate.
