What is Allotetrahydrocortisol?
Allotetrahydrocortisol is the 5β-reduced metabolite of cortisol, formed in the liver and excreted conjugated in urine. It accounts for a smaller proportion of cortisol metabolism than THF but contributes to the overall steroid metabolome. The ratio of THF to allo-THF reflects the balance of 5α- versus 5β-reductase activity.
