What is Estradiol?
Estradiol is the most potent circulating oestrogen, produced primarily by the ovarian granulosa cells in premenopausal women and by peripheral conversion in adipose and other tissues after menopause. It binds oestrogen receptors with high affinity, drives endometrial proliferation, maintains bone density, and regulates lipid metabolism. Urinary excretion reflects both free and conjugated forms, integrated over the collection period.
