What is Enniatins (B, B1) and Beauvericin, Urine?
Enniatins (including ENN A, A1, B, B1) and beauvericin are cyclic depsipeptide mycotoxins produced primarily by Fusarium species on cereal crops — particularly wheat, maize, barley, and oats — and represent an emerging class of food safety concern. They act as ionophores, disrupting ion transport across cell membranes, and show cytotoxic, antimicrobial, and insecticidal activity. Enniatins are among the most frequently detected mycotoxins in European cereal surveys but have historically been excluded from routine monitoring due to the absence of established regulatory limits.
